Introduction and Background
A day Consultation Meeting with Policy Makers was held at the Regional Education Directorate (RED1). The meeting began with the usual protocol of individual prayers, followed by the opening remarks from the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MoBSE). The Principal Program Officer of the Gambia National Commission for UNESCO delivered the welcoming remarks and the National Coordinator of Education for All Campaign Network (EFAnet) also delivered a statement on behalf of civil society.
The principal element of this meeting was focused on the strategies, roles, and responsibilities that are needed to boost enrolment and retention in regions 4, 5, and 6. This led to the sharing of brilliant ideas and recommendations that we believe will yield great achievement in addressing the issue of enrolment and retention within the affected areas.
